Dr. David Hamilton (preferably, ‘Dr. Dave’) specializes in botanical medicine, family medicine, pain management, and clinical nutrition. He uses these modalities to best individualize patient care. He treats a variety of different conditions which range from the acute cough or cold, pre and post natal care, pediatrics, lyme’s disease, hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disorders, autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Crohn’s Disease; gastrointestinal disorders such as food sensitivities, IBS; anxiety and depression, eczema/psoriasis, fertility assistance, male and female health concerns and a number of other conditions.
Dr. Dave received his doctorate of naturopathic medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, AZ. Dr. Dave co-owns a small urban homestead with an emphasis on “Food as Medicine”.
The farm is home to chickens, Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats, turkeys, ducks and bountiful raised garden beds. For the farm’s dedication to organic and sustainable practices, he was awarded the Paul C. Bragg Health Science Scholarship. The humbling and grounding nature of plants serve as a reminder that all things are connected. Herbs are a natural alternative to pharmaceuticals. Their long and well-established tradition of use and ease of assimilation by our given their similarity to food. Dr. Dave uses the energetic and medicinal properties of plants to enhance and individualize treatment to promote health and wellness.
Dr. Dave is offering herbal medicine classes and hosting herb walks at his farm, Wish We Had Acres and other venues across Charlotte. You can find he and his wife Laura at Atherton Mill and Farmer’s Market or NoDa Farmer’s Market on Saturdays from 9am-2pm. Dr. Dave is also a board member of the North Carolina Herb Association where he helps educate the public and other healthcare professionals on continuing education on herbal medicine.
