This course teaches how to calm the lining of the sinus cavities with Manual Lymphatic Drainage Techniques. It is helpful to anyone wanting to treat people with Sinusitis or any other mucus excess conditions. The class focuses on the anatomy of the sinus cavities, why client’s bodies build excess mucus and lymph and how to help your client manage their conditions. We will discuss the energetics components of this part of the body with an emphasis on the Brow Chakra from the Chakra System and indications and contraindications for treatment. Sinus massage combines gentle pressure and warmth from the hands to break up the mucous that backs up in the sinus cavities. The natural drainage mechanism is stimulated to clear the passageways. Blood circulation increases to sustain better sinus function throughout the day. Congestion and pressure decrease so that the headache and pain associated with sinusitis disappears. Many sinus pain sufferers are surprised to find that relief is possible following the first massage.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to: • Identify the anatomy of the sinuses
• Identify the pathology of excess mucus and lymph
• Identify and define manual therapy that treats those conditions
• Demonstrate a sinus massage protocol
• Discuss the components of the Brow Chakra within the Chakra System
• Discuss indications and contraindications
